Mission Statement
The purpose of the home is to help make recovery possible from substance abuse disorders (primarily alcohol) possible for men who are in need of a temporary home. This is accomplished by furnishing clean rooms, nutritious meals, a therapeutic atmosphere of hospitality, fellowship within the 12 step program of Alcoholics Anonymous, and a caring but firm attitude regarding discipline and self-responsibility.
General Referral Guidelines:
- Applicants must be ambulatory, able to climb stairs, and participate in and complete all of the requirements of the program which include obtaining a first shift job after completing the required SACOT/IOP participation at Phoenix Counseling for the first 2 to 3 months of their stay.
- Males only, 18 years of age or older.
- Initial 2 weeks are a probationary period; cannot leave the home unless accompanied by another resident that has been in the program for at least 30 days.
- Alcohol and drug free for a minimum of 72 hours and have a diagnosis of an alcohol use disorder or dependence (F10.20); may also have other substance use diagnoses. (Preference is to have the individual complete detox and/or an inpatient program)
- Cannot be on the following medications: benzodiazepines, ambien or lunesta, adderall/vyvance/concerta or any other stimulant type medication, muscle relaxers, opioids, suboxone/subutext, or methadone. Basically any prescription or over the counter (diphenhydramine, dextromethorphan, etc.) medication that can be addictive. Alcohol MAT medications like Naltrexone and Antabuse are acceptable.
- Cannot have severe mental health conditions or diagnoses, anger issues, or display aggressive behavior. The applicant is expected to be free from any psychological or medical problems that would prevent functioning in a group living situation.
- Should have a genuine desire to achieve and maintain long-term sobriety. Must be willing to attend and participate in all meetings (including AA and obtaining a sponsor and working the 12 steps), groups, and other therapeutic interventions that are part of the Flynn Home’s program.
- Understand that the length of the program is 9 months and they will be required to find appropriate housing at the end of their stay.
- Be willing to submit to random drug screening and breathalyzer tests while in the program.
- Cannot be a registered sex offender or have any pending sex related criminal charges.
If the client you would like to refer meets these criteria please send a comprehensive evaluation to the fax number (or scan and email) and include a contact name, number, and email, along with the person’s anticipated date of discharge.
If you should have any questions or concerns whatsoever, please feel free to contact me personally. While these are the general referral criteria, special cases will be considered. Usually I would still like to speak directly with someone who has been involved with the person’s direct care to try and get a better feel for the person than just what I can read on the evaluation.

• We do not maintain a waiting list or offer application forms.
• Beds are available on a first-come, first-served basis as they become available.
• Admission is contingent upon the client meeting program criteria.
• The program is funded through state funds (IPRS); insurance is not billed.
• Eligibility for state funding requires residing within the Partners Behavioral Health Management catchment area.
