Where to find help

  • Gaston Together teaches residents how to recognize an overdose and give Narcan (naloxone). An online training portal launched in March 2026. Narcan is safe and cannot harm someone who is not overdosing.
  • Kintegra Health offers opioid use disorder treatment and Narcan at no cost, and places trained professionals in schools for counseling and support groups.
  • Gaston County: call 704-675-1321 or visit gastongov.com.

Treatable, not shameful

Both organizations stress that opioid use disorder is a treatable medical condition, not a moral failing. We agree. Treatment, medication, and a stable, supportive home all play a part in lasting recovery.
